Tomorrowland Launches an All Ages DJ & Production School
For some, the elusive dream of performing on a world-class stage can now become a reality. The Belgian super-festival and events mammoth Tomorrowland is launching its own production and DJ school, Tomorrowland Academy, for kids and adults starting this summer.
Budding producers and artists looking to expand their craft will gather just outside of De Schorre, Belgium, the official Tomorrowland grounds. The organized ‘DJ Bootcamps’ will offer multiple sessions for those interested in sharpening their skills and networking in the industry. The bootcamps will take place in between the festival weekends, July 18-21 and July 25-28.
The week-long curriculum includes DJ and production workshops led by professional DJs, industry tips and tricks, networking sessions, and “inspirational sessions” with industry experts and Tomorrowland artists.
For their graduation present, DJ Bootcamp students will get “Full Madness Access” to Tomorrowland 2022. This fully immersive experience includes an exclusive backstage tour and the opportunity to perform live on one of the official Tomorrowland stages before the festival starts. Both weekends come with an included weekend pass to Tomorrowland. Packages for DJ Bootcamp start at € 950 ($1,020) with optional themed hotel accommodations.
Adults aren’t the only ones getting to have fun at DJ Bootcamp. From July 11-14, kids and teenagers ages 8-17 can attend Tomorrowland’s featured ‘Kids Camp.’ Far from your typical summer camp experience, the young beatmakers will get classes in phase matching, EQ’ing, filtering, loops, and hot cues. A final live show on one of the Tomorrowland stages will conclude the unforgettable week for these youngsters.
The camps are a unique educational collaboration between Tomorrowland and the Belgium-based Amplify Academy. The two institutions have a bright outlook for the project. They’re hoping for an eventual fixed, physical music academy for DJs and producers. For those who can’t make it out to Belgium, there will also be an online platform offered for kids all around the globe.
The Tomorrowland Academy seems like a natural progression for the festival makers. They’ve always created a space for dance music lovers to gather and worship the music. Now they’re just allowing you to start a bit earlier.
