This Week In Techno: Adam Beyer, UMEK & Jeff Mills
Dance music is a broad group of genres, and anyone that calls themself a super fan knows that boiling it all down to just EDM only serves to ignore its sweeping diversity. Our weekly "This Week In" columns spotlight the wider sub-genres of dance music by focussing on the best new tracks, mixes, and classic songs that make the genres so compelling.
Umek - Dark Market
One of the absolute kings of big room techno, Umek has delivered once again with "Dark Market." The track is a classic example of peak-time driving techno, bringing a ferocious mix of high-energy drum patterns and deep basslines to create a true weapon in any DJ set.

Jeff Mills - The Bells
Techno would not exist today if not for Jeff Mills. His career began in the early 1980s under the name, The Wizard. He was one of Detroit's foremost techno DJs before the genre even had a name, helping establish the city as the home to the genre of music. Although modern techno has evolved from the stripped-back sounds of the 80s and 90s, those eras heavily influenced what we know as techno today. "Bells" is a defining track of these times, with a relentless energy that can only be truly appreciated in a live setting.
