This Week in Hard Dance: Paul Elstak, Psycho Boys Club, Al Twisted & DJ Isaac
Paul Elstak, Psycho Boys Club - Attack
I haven’t been this excited about a collab in ages: the almighty Paul Elstak has joined forces with one of my favorite acts, Psycho Boys Club. The aptly titled, “Attack” showcases a flurry of hardcore kicks like it’s an exhibit in a museum all about the origins of hardcore. Old-school meets new-school between the two powerhouse acts; the synergy is utterly addictive. This track belongs in whatever playlist you use to hype yourself up before the show or when you’re breaking a sweat in the gym — and on the dance floor, of course.

Al Twisted @ Balter Festival 2022
I stumbled upon Glasgow’s own Al Twisted on my SoundCloud feed, whose set recorded during this year’s Balter Festival compelled me to dance around my apartment like the Energizer Bunny. In just one hour, Al Twisted takes us on a ride through the spectrum of hardcore, including subgenres like gabber, Frenchcore, and more. He’s a true OG with over 20 years under his belt in the hardcore scene, and it shows through this winding, chaotic set made for dancing endlessly.

Hard Dance Throwback: DJ Isaac - I Wanna Be A Gabber Baby (1996)
I’m obsessed with sharing this video with anyone and everyone I know. DJ Isaac is in the business of dominating dance floors all over the world, and he’s been doing so for decades. One of my favorite classic gabber tunes is none other than his “I Wanna Be A Gabber Baby,” from 1996. Beyond the track’s dizzying, repetitive melodies and lyrics, Isaac made an equally exciting music video for the tune that’ll go down in history for years to come. Don’t blame me if you’re singing this melody for weeks on end — we all need this kind of childlike excitement in our lives!
