Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter to Score A Ballet
We aren't exactly sure if everyone is over the collective sadness that came with Daft Punk's February breakup announcement. Luckily we are beginning to catch wind of solo projects from both members. Thomas Bangalter is writing music for a new ballet called "Mythologies" set to premiere at the Ballet of the Opéra National de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.
According to the ballet company's official website, the performance will run for 90 minutes and feature dancers from Ballet Preljocaj and Ballet of the Opéra National de Bordeaux. Choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj it, "Explores contemporary rituals and the founding myths that shape the collective imagination," says the Ballet of the Opéra National de Bordeaux.
“Dance, the art of the unspeakable par excellence, is it not the best way to lay bare our fears, our anxieties, and our hopes? It stigmatizes our rituals, reveals the incongruity of our postures, whether social, religious or pagan, ” explains Prelojocaj.
Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo both announced solo projects in April. Bangalter has assumed a new alias and record label Roullete - a nod to his former 90s era Roulé imprint. He aims to release new solo music and work from his vast industry contacts.
